White Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    3 c. flour (cake flour)
    3 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. cold water
    1/2 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg whites
Preparation
    Sift flour and baking powder together 3 times.
    Cream butter and sugar until fluffy; add vanilla.
    Add dry ingredients and water alternately in small amounts, beating well after each addition, then fold in beaten egg whites.
    Bake in moderate oven. Cover with favorite icing.
