Microwave Split Pea Soup - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    6 c. water
    1 lb. dried green split peas (about 2 1/2 c.)
    3 medium carrots, coarsely grated
    1 medium onion, thinly sliced
    1 1/2 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Combine all ingredients in 3-quart casserole.
    Cover and microwave on High for 10 minutes.
    Reduce power to Medium. Microwave until vegetables are tender and soup is thickened, 1 hour to 1 hour and 10 minutes, stirring 2 or 3 times during cooking.
