Buttery Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. granulated sugar
    1 c. lite corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
    1 c. butter or margarine
    2 c. raw peanuts
    1 tsp. soda
Preparation
    Combine sugar, syrup and water in 3-quart pan.
    When syrup boils, add butter.
    Cook until 230\u00b0.
    Stir frequently after that. Add nuts at 280\u00b0 (soft crack).
    Stir constantly until 305\u00b0 (hard crack).
    Remove from heat.
    Stir in soda.
    Pour on 2 cookie sheets, buttered.
    As candy cools, stretch it thin, using forks.
    Turn over as soon as stiff enough.
    Break into pieces.
    Makes 2 1/2 pounds.
