Apple Betty - cooking recipe
Ingredients

2 1/2 c. bread crumbs
1/4 c. melted butter
4 c. sliced apples
1/2 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. cinnamon
1/4 tsp. nutmeg
2 tsp. grated lemon rind
Preparation

Combine bread crumbs and butter.
Place 1/3 of mixture in 1 1/2-quart casserole.
Combine apples, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg and lemon rind.
Toss together until apples are well coated with sugar mixture.
Spoon 1/2 of apples over bread crumbs in casserole. Layer with more bread crumbs and apples, reserving 1/3 of crumbs for top.
Pour 1/4 cup of water over.
Cover and bake at 375\u00b0 for 35 minutes.
Uncover and brown for 5 minutes.
Serve warm with cream.
