Waldorf Astoria Stew - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. beef stew meat
    1 c. celery, cut in 1-inch pieces
    3 carrots, sliced
    3 or 4 potatoes, cut in cubes
    1 slice bread, torn in pieces
    2 1/2 Tbsp. tapioca
    1 Tbsp. sugar
    1 (No. 2) can tomatoes
    1/2 c. water
    2 tsp. salt
    pepper to taste
    onion to taste
    1 tsp. garlic salt
Preparation
    Place first 6 ingredients in order given in bottom of roasting pan.
    Mix remaining ingredients together; pour over meat and vegetables.
    Put cover on roasting pan.
    Bake 5 hours in 250\u00b0 oven.
