Floating Island(Isla Flotante) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 eggs
    1 qt. milk
    4 Tbsp. sugar
    1 c. sugar
    1 Tbsp. cornstarch
    1 tsp. vanilla extract
    3 Tbsp. clear corn syrup
    1/2 c. water
Preparation
    Beat egg yolks with the 4 tablespoons of sugar; add cornstarch.
    Heat the milk and add the yolk mixture, stirring well.
    Cook until it thickens.
    Pour in a bowl and add the vanilla.
    Place in refrigerator.
    In a large pot (the ocean), mix sugar, corn syrup and water and then boil until it reaches the \"thread stage\".
    Beat with a mixer 4 egg whites until peak forms. Slowly add the syrup, beating well.
    Grease a baking dish with margarine and bake at 275\u00b0 to 300\u00b0 for 5 to 10 minutes.
    Cool and refrigerate.
    Serve in a bowl on top of your meringue (Island).
