Coconut Cream Pie - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 1/2 c. sugar
1/4 c. cornstarch
2 c. milk
3 egg yolks
1 Tbsp. butter
1 Tbsp. vanilla
2 c. coconut
2 baked pie shells
3 egg whites
6 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

Bake pie shells and set aside to cool.
Combine 1 1/2 cups sugar, cornstarch, milk, egg yolks and butter.
Cook until thick. Add coconut and vanilla.
Pour into pie shells.
Cover with meringue, made with 3 egg whites and 6 tablespoons sugar.
Put into hot oven at 400\u00b0.
Let meringue brown lightly.
Turn oven off and let pies sit in oven with door closed for 1 hour.
