Blonde Brownies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. baking powder
    1/8 tsp. baking soda
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    1 c. chocolate or butterscotch chips
    1/2 c. chopped walnuts
    1/3 c. margarine or shortening
    1 c. brown sugar
    1 Tbsp. hot water
Preparation
    Melt margarine in saucepan.
    Remove from heat.
    Add brown sugar and mix well.
    Add hot water; cool slightly.
    Add slightly beaten egg and vanilla and stir.
    Add flour, baking powder, baking soda and salt mixture a little at a time.
    Mix well after each addition.
    Fold in chips and walnuts.
    Sprinkle chopped walnuts over top.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 20 to 25 minutes in greased 9 x 9 x 2-inch pan.
