Dinner Rolls And Variations - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 pkg. dry yeast
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. sugar
1/4 c. vegetable oil
1 tsp. salt
1 c. scalded milk
1 slightly beaten egg
3 1/2 c. sifted all-purpose flour
Preparation

Soften yeast in warm water.
Combine sugar, shortening and salt in large bowl.
Stir in hot milk; cool to lukewarm (110\u00b0 to 115\u00b0).
Add softened yeast and egg; beat well after each addition. Add 2 cups flour; beat well.
Gradually add remaining flour; stir in to make soft dough.
Cover; let rise in warm place until double (or more).
This takes 1 1/2 to ? hours.
Punch down.
You are now ready to shape into your favorite rolls (cloverleaf, Parker House, etc.).
Place in or on greased pans.
Let rise again until at least double in bulk.
Bake at 375\u00b0 to 400\u00b0 for 10 to 12 minutes, or until desired brownness.
(Makes 24 rolls.)
