Dumplings - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 1/2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1/3 tsp. pepper
Preparation
    Mix dry ingredients well.
    Cut in shortening as for pie crust until crumbly.
    Add enough milk to make a stiff dough.
    Roll out on well floured board, 1/8 to 1/4-inch thick.
    Cut into squares and drop into boiling broth.
    Reduce heat and cook about 20 minutes, uncovered.
