Date Pudding Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. dates
    1 c. hot water
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 to 3/4 c. nuts
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 egg
    1 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. baking powder
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Sprinkle soda over chopped dates and nuts.
    (I buy bulk dates not the packaged dates which are chopped with sugar on them.)
    Put other ingredients in a pan and pour hot water over all.
    Mix well. Grease and flour a 9 x 13 x 2-inch pan.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes or until done.
    Cool.
    Cut squares and serve with whipped cream or Cool Whip on top.
    Very good.
