Autumn Soup - cooking recipe

1 c. chopped onion
4 c. water
1 large can tomato or V-8 juice
1 c. cut or sliced carrots
1 c. diced celery
1 c. sliced cabbage
1 c. cubed potatoes
1/2 tsp. basil
2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
1/4 tsp. black pepper
1 bay leaf
6 tomatoes or 1 (28 oz.) can stewed tomatoes
