Italian Cream Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick butter
    2 c. sugar
    2 c. plain flour
    1 c. buttermilk
    1 small can coconut
    5 egg whites, stiffly beaten
    1/2 c. shortening
    5 egg yolks
    1 tsp. soda
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Cream butter, shortening and sugar.
    Add egg yolks, beat well. Combine flour and soda; add to cream mixture alternately with milk. Add vanilla, coconut and nuts.
    Fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in 3 (9-inch) pans at 350\u00b0 for 25 minutes.
