Mom'S Spaghetti Sauce - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large onion, chopped
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    1/2 lb. lean ground beef
    1/2 lb. lean ground pork
    1 tsp. dried oregano
    1 tsp. dried basil
    3 Tbsp. dried parsley
    1 (28 oz.) can tomato sauce
    1 (28 oz.) can tomato puree
    1 (4 oz.) can tomato paste
    1 c. red wine
    1 c. shredded baby carrots (optional)
    3 Tbsp. olive oil
Preparation
    In a large Dutch oven heat the olive oil and add the onions, garlic and carrots (if using).
    Cook slowly for 5 to 10 minutes, being careful not to burn the garlic.
    Add the herbs and cook for a minute or two more.
    Add the beef and pork and brown well.
    Add the tomato sauce, puree and paste.
    Stir well.
    Rinse the cans with the wine and add to the sauce.
    Simmer slowly for 2 or 3 hours.
    Stir often! Serves 6 to 8.
