Ingredients

1/4 c. butter or margarine
1 c. brown sugar
1 c. sugar
pinch of salt
3/4 c. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 c. chopped walnuts or pecans (optional)
Preparation

Melt butter or margarine in heavy pot over medium-low heat. Add brown sugar; heat to boiling.
Add sugar, pinch of salt and sour cream.
Cook over low heat, stirring, until sugar dissolves and mixture reaches soft ball stage (236\u00b0).
Cool at room temperature until lukewarm (110\u00b0).
Do not stir.
Beat until mixture holds its shape.
Add vanilla and nuts.
