Summer Punch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 qt. ginger ale or 7-Up
    2 (1/2 gal.) pkg. rainbow sherbet (any plain sherbet)
    1 jar maraschino cherries (optional)
    ice ring
Preparation
    In a large punch bowl, prepared with ice ring, add one container of sherbet.
    Pour in 1 1/2 quarts ginger ale.
    When sherbet softens, add remaining half gallon of sherbet and 1 1/2 quarts of ginger ale.
