Chili Con Carne - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef
1 Tbsp. shortening
1 c. chopped onion
1 garlic clove, crushed or 1/4 tsp. garlic powder
1 1/2 Tbsp. chili powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 tsp. paprika
1/2 tsp. oregano
1/2 tsp. ground cumin
1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper
1 (16 oz.) can tomatoes or tomato sauce
1 (16 oz.) can red kidney beans
Preparation

Heat shortening in skillet and brown beef and onion, discarding fat.
Combine all ingredients and simmer; or cook in crock-pot on low for 8 to 10 minutes, or on high for 5 hours, or on automatic 6 hours.
Yield: 4 to 5 servings.
