Chocolate Logs - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3/4 c. butter
    3/4 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 egg
    2 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 (12 oz.) pkg. semi-sweet chocolate morsels
    1 Tbsp. shortening
    2 c. finely chopped nuts (optional)
Preparation
    Cream butter, sugar, vanilla and egg.
    Mix flour and salt; add to first mixture.
    Using hands, mix until well blended.
    Stir in 1/2 cup chocolate morsels.
    Use 1 level tablespoon mixture for each cookie.
    Shape into 2-inch logs or flat ovals and arrange on ungreased baking sheets.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 12 to 15 minutes or until golden brown.
    Cool on wire racks.
