Potato Cakes (Kartoffel Torte) - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 medium potatoes
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
    2 eggs, beaten
    1 large onion, diced
    1 lb. ground beef, browned
    1 tart apple, peeled and diced
    1 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. pepper
    1/2 c. Cheddar cheese, shredded
Preparation
    Peel potatoes; grate 6 of them very fine and remaining 2, grate coarse.
    Put in a large bowl.
    Add eggs, onion, ground beef, apple, salt and pepper; mix well.
    Place in a greased casserole and bake in preheated 400\u00b0 oven for 50 minutes.
    Sprinkle cheese over top and bake another 10 minutes.
    Serves 4 to 6.
