Thumbprint Cookies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 lb. butter
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg yolk
    4 c. flour
    1/2 lb. crushed walnuts (do not mix with cookie dough)
Preparation
    Mix with hand and shape into balls (walnut size).
    Roll into 1 egg white, beaten with fork in a separate bowl.
    Then roll in crushed walnuts in separate bowl.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet. Press each cookie with thumb (deep).
    Bake in a 325\u00b0 oven for 15 minutes on bottom rack.
    Remove and fill with 1/2 teaspoon fruit preserves (blueberry, apricot, strawberry and cherry work well). Place back in oven on top rack for 10 minutes.
