Coffee Cake - cooking recipe

1/2 c. butter, softened
1 c. sugar
2 eggs, beaten light
1/2 pt. sour cream
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. sifted flour
1 tsp. baking powder
1 tsp. baking soda
1/4 tsp. salt
1/2 c. nuts, chopped (optional)
