Rhubarb Crunch - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sifted flour
    3/4 c. uncooked oatmeal
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. melted shortening
    1 tsp. cinnamon
    4 c. diced rhubarb
    1 c. white sugar
    1 c. water
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 Tbsp. cornstarch
Preparation
    Mix first 5 ingredients until crumbly.
    Press half of mixture into greased 9 x 9-inch pan.
    Pour in diced rhubarb.
    Combine remaining ingredients and cook over low heat until clear and thick.
    Pour over rhubarb and top with remaining crumbs.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 1 hour.
    Cut into squares and serve warm or cold.
    Top with whipped cream or ice cream.
