Peanut Brittle - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 cups sugar
    1/2 cup water
    1 1/2 tsp. butter
    2 tsp. baking soda
    1 cup Karo syrup
    2 cups raw Spanish peanuts
    1 1/2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Butter a 26 - 28 inch piece heavy duty aluminum foil.
    In a large sauce pan, combine sugar, syrup and water.
    Bring to a boil (238 degrees) and add peanuts.
    Stir until brittle stage (300 -305 degrees).
    Turn off heat.
    Add butter and stir.
    Add vanilla and stir.
    Add baking soda and stir quickly and pour onto foil --- spread very thinly.
    Allow to cool and break into pieces.
