Yellow Squash Pickles - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 qt. sliced small yellow squash
    6 medium white onions, sliced
    1/2 c. coarse medium salt (plain)
    5 c. sugar
    3 c. vinegar
    1 1/2 tsp. turmeric
    1 1/2 tsp. celery seed
    2 Tbsp. white mustard seed
Preparation
    Slice squash, add onion.
    Add salt; cover with cracked ice. Mix thoroughly; let stand 3 hours.
