Quickly Made Kolache - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    8 c. flour
    1/2 lb. shortening (1/2 lb.)
    1 c. milk
    6 tsp. baking powder
    4 eggs
    1 c. sugar
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Blend sugar and shortening.
    Add eggs and vanilla.
    Sift dry ingredients and add alternately with milk to combine all the ingredients.
    Knead well.
    Roll out on floured board to about 1/4-inch thickness and cut into 3-inch squares.
    Fill with either poppy seed or crushed walnuts.
    Pinch two opposite ends together. Lay folded side down on greased tin.
    Or, instead of cutting into squares, spread poppy seed or walnuts across dough and roll like jelly roll.
    Cut into slices.
    Bake immediately at 375\u00b0 for 15 to 20 minutes.
