Fruit Cocktail Fried Pies - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 large can fruit cocktail
    1/2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. vanilla flavoring
    2 heaping Tbsp. cornstarch
    canned biscuits or your favorite pastry dough
Preparation
    In saucepan over medium heat, cook and mash fruit as it cooks. Add 1/2 cup sugar; mix well, then stir in 2 tablespoons of cornstarch, mixed with 1/2 cup of water.
    Add vanilla and let cool.
    Roll biscuits or dough into thin circles.
    Place 2 tablespoons of cooked mixture onto one-half of circle.
    Fold over and seal by pressing with tines of fork.
    Fry in hot oil or solid shortening until golden brown on both sides.
    A mixture of white and butter Crisco is good for this recipe.
