Bread And Butter Pickles - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1 gal. sliced cucumbers
8 or 10 sliced onions
5 c. vinegar
5 c. sugar
1 c. water
2 Tbsp. mustard seed
2 Tbsp. celery seed
1 tsp. turmeric
1/2 c. salt
ice cubes
Preparation

Slice cucumbers in thin round slices, also onions. Place in gallon bowl or container and sprinkle with salt. Cover with ice cubes. Let stand 3 hours. Stir once or twice. (Drain and add more ice.) Rinse and drain. Bring spices, sugar, vinegar and water to a boil. Add onions and cucumbers. Simmer. When hot, pack in hot jars and seal.
