Hickory Nut Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    2 c. cake flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    3/4 c. milk
    1 c. nuts
    1 tsp. vanilla
    4 egg whites
    1/8 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
    Sift flour with baking powder; add alternately with milk to sugar mixture. Add nuts and vanilla.
    Beat egg whites with salt.
    Fold into batter.
    Pour into well-greased and floured cake pans.
    Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 to 35 minutes.
