Buttermilk Pralines - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 tsp. soda
    1 c. buttermilk
    3/4 c. margarine
    1 tsp. vanilla
    2 c. pecan halves
Preparation
    Butter 3-quart mixing bowl.
    Stir in sugar, soda, buttermilk and butter.
    Microwave at 50% (Medium) for 30 to 40 minutes or until a soft ball forms in cold water; stir 2 to 3 times during cooking.
    Add vanilla.
    Beat at high speed of electric mixer until soft peaks form.
    Stir in pecans.
    Drop by teaspoonful onto wax paper.
    Cool until firm.
    Store in tightly covered container in freezer no longer than 3 months or in refrigerator no longer than 1 1/2 months.
    Yield:
    4 dozen.
