Chow Chow - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    5 cucumbers
    1 peck green tomatoes
    12 large onions
    6 bell peppers
    hot pepper to suit taste
    2 to 3 lb. sugar
    1/2 gal. vinegar
    2 large cabbage
    1/2 box pickling spice (tie up in cloth)
    1/2 c. salt
Preparation
    Grind or cut up all ingredients real fine.
    Put salt in and mix well.
    Set 30 minutes, then drain.
    Add sugar, vinegar and spices (tied up) and cook on low heat until done.
    After coming to boil, cook about 2 more hours.
    Makes about 12 pints.
