Red Velvet Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. butter (no substitute)
    1 1/2 tsp. soda
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1 c. buttermilk
    2 eggs
    2 oz. red food coloring (4 Tbsp.)
    2 Tbsp. vinegar, mild
    1 Tbsp. vanilla
    1 Tbsp. cocoa
    1 tsp. salt
Preparation
    Cream shortening, sugar and eggs.
    Make paste of cocoa and coloring and add to mixture..
    Mix salt and vanilla with buttermilk and alternating with flour.
    Mix soda and vinegar, and fold into mixture.
    (Do not beat.)
    Bake in two 9 inch or three 8 inch pans for 30 minutes at 350\u00b0.
