Cheesy Layered Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 head lettuce, shredded
    dash of salt
    dash of pepper
    2 Tbsp. sugar
    2 hard-cooked eggs, sliced
    1 (10 oz.) pkg. frozen English peas
    1 lb. bacon, cooked and crumbled
    2 c. shredded Swiss or Cheddar cheese
    1 c. mayonnaise or salad dressing
Preparation
    Layer half of lettuce in a 2 1/2-quart bowl.
    Sprinkle with salt, pepper and 1 tablespoon sugar.
    Line sides of bowl with egg slices.
    Spoon peas evenly over lettuce.
    Sprinkle with remaining lettuce, bacon and cheese.
    Spread mayonnaise evenly over top. Cover salad tightly and chill 24 hours.
    Yields 6 servings.
