Fried Green Tomatoes - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 large firm green tomatoes
    1/2 c. all-purpose meal mixed with 2 Tbsp. flour
    1 tsp. salt
    1/4 tsp. pepper
    bacon drippings or shortening
Preparation
    Cut tomatoes into 1/4-inch slices.
    Coat tomatoes in flour/cornmeal mixture; salt and pepper.
    Place in heavy skillet containing bacon drippings.
    Fry slowly until very brown, turning once.
    Makes 6 servings.
