Very Special Chili - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 lb. lean stewing beef, well trimmed and cut in 1-inch cubes
    1/4 c. salad oil
    1 c. chopped onion
    3 cloves garlic, minced
    4 to 6 Tbsp. chili powder
    2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. ground cumin
    2 tsp. hot pepper sauce
    1 (4 oz.) can green chilies, seeded and chopped
    1 qt. water
    1/4 c. chopped onion
Preparation
    In large saucepan, brown beef in oil.
    Add remaining ingredients and mix well.
    Bring to boil.
    Reduce heat and simmer, uncovered, for 1 1/2 to 2 hours, until meat is tender.
    Garnish with chopped onion.
    If desired, serve with additional hot pepper sauce.
    Serves 4 to 6.
