Delta Bars - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. shortening
    1 c. sugar
    1 egg yolk
    1 whole egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 1/4 c. flour
    1/2 tsp. salt
    1 tsp. double-acting baking powder
    1 egg white
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/2 c. chopped nuts
Preparation
    Make a meringue by beating 1 egg white until foamy.
    Gradually beat in 1 cup brown sugar.
    Beat until stiff and glossy.
    Fold in chopped nuts.
    Spread meringue over dough.
    Bake 25 minutes at 375\u00b0.
    Cut while warm.
    Makes 24 (2-inches).
