Ingredients

1 c. evaporated milk
1 c. water
1 c. brown sugar
1/2 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 egg yolks, slightly beaten
2 Tbsp. water
1/2 tsp. vanilla
baked pie shell
4 Tbsp. sugar
2 egg whites
Preparation

Scald evaporated milk and water in top of double boiler. Blend brown sugar, flour and salt; add egg yolks and water.
Stir into hot milk and cook over boiling water for 10 minutes, stirring until thick and smooth.
Cool and add vanilla. Pour into baked pie shell or crumb crust.
Cover with meringue made by gradually beating sugar into stiffly beaten egg whites. Bake in slow oven (325\u00b0) about 20 minutes.
