"Stove Top" Rice Pudding - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 gal. milk
    1/2 c. sugar
    dash of nutmeg
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1/2 c. rice (not instant)
    dash of salt
    1 1/2 oz. box raisins (optional)
Preparation
    Put all ingredients in large pot, except vanilla.
    Get to rolling boil on high heat.
    Reduce to low, steady simmer.
    Cook for about 1 hour or until mixture gets thick.
    Remove from heat and stir in vanilla.
    Pour into bowl and sprinkle with nutmeg. You may want to add a little more sugar for those with a \"sweet tooth.\"
