Marshmallow Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 1/2 c. sugar
    1/2 c. butter
    1 tsp. boiling water
    1 c. milk
    pinch of salt
    5 egg whites, beaten stiff
    2 1/2 c. cake flour
    2 tsp. baking powder
    1 c. finely chopped walnuts
Preparation
    Cream sugar and butter until smooth; add boiling water and mix thoroughly.
    Add flour, baking powder and salt alternately with milk. Add walnuts, then fold in stiffly beaten egg whites.
    Bake in two greased and floured 8 or 9 inch layer cake pans in 350\u00b0 oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until cake tests done.
    Turn out on racks to cool.
