Baked Spareribs And Sauerkraut - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    4 1/2 lb. ribs
    1/2 Tbsp. salt
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    2 (1 lb. 11 oz. each) cans sauerkraut
    2 c. (about 3/4 lb.) diced green apples
    1/2 Tbsp. caraway seed
    1/2 tsp. pepper
    3/4 c. diced onion (about 1/2 lb.)
Preparation
    Cut ribs into 2 to 3 rib pieces.
    Put in a large roasting pan and sprinkle with salt and pepper. Roast in a 450\u00b0 oven for about 1/2 hour, turning ribs occasionally until brown.
    Reduce heat to 350\u00b0. Cook 1 hour longer, not covered.
    Remove from oven and drain off fat.
    Add undrained sauerkraut, apples, caraway seed, pepper and onion to the ribs. Cover.
    Continue roasting at 350\u00b0 until ribs are tender and meat will slip easily from the bones, about 1 hour. Add water, if necessary, during last of cooking.
