Caramel Icing - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 stick melted butter
    1 lb. brown sugar
    1/2 c. evaporated milk
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Boil the first 3 ingredients for 3 minutes.
    Drop a dab into a cup of cold water.
    If you can form a ball with your fingers, it is ready.
    Remove from heat and add vanilla.
    Beat until it's starting to thicken.
    As it cools, it will get thicker.
    Pour over cake that is in a 13 x 9-inch pan.
    This is great on the Fresh Apple Cake.
