Peanutty Crisscrosses - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    3 c. Quaker Oats (quick or old-fashioned, uncooked)
    1 1/2 c. all-purpose flour
    1/2 tsp. soda
    3/4 c. butter or margarine, softened or butter flavored Crisco
    1 c. peanut butter
    1 1/2 c. firmly packed down brown sugar
    1/3 c. water
    1 egg
    1 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    In medium bowl, combine oats, flour and soda.
    In large bowl, beat together margarine, peanut butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    Blend in egg, water and vanilla.
    Add dry ingredients; mix well.
    Chill dough about 1 hour.
    Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
    Shape dough to form 1-inch balls and flatten.
    Place on ungreased cookie sheet.
    Use tines of fork (or potato masher) dipped in granulated sugar to form crisscross pattern.
    Bake 9 to 10 minutes or until edges are golden brown.
    Cool 1 minute on cookie sheet; remove to wire cooling rack.
    Makes about 4 to 6 dozen cookies.
