Creme Pie Filling - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 c. sugar
    3 c. milk
    1/2 c. flour
    1/4 tsp. salt
    3 egg yolks, slightly beaten
    2 Tbsp. butter
    1 tsp. vanilla
    1 deep dish pie crust, prepared as directed
Preparation
    Mix in double boiler, sugar, flour and salt.
    Stir in milk; cook 15 minutes, stirring constantly until thick.
    Add egg yolks and cook 3 more minutes. Add butter; cool and add vanilla.
    Add chocolate or coconut if desired.
