Golden Hush Puppies - cooking recipe

Ingredients

2 c. self-rising corn meal
1 small onion, finely chopped
3/4 c. milk
1 egg, slightly beaten
salad oil or shortening

Preparation

Combine corn meal and onion.
Add milk and egg, stirring well. Carefully drop batter by tablespoonfuls into deep hot oil (370\u00b0). Cook only a few at a time, turning once.
Fry until hush puppies are golden brown, 3 to 5 minutes.
Drain well on absorbent towels. Yields about 2 dozen.
