Ingredients

1/2 c. margarine or butter
3/4 c. sugar
4 egg yolks (set aside whites)
1 1/4 c. flour
1/2 tsp. salt
2 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 c. milk
1/2 tsp. vanilla
4 egg whites
1/8 tsp. cream of tartar
1/4 tsp. vanilla
1 c. sugar
Preparation

Cream margarine, sugar and egg yolks.
Combine flour, salt and baking powder.
Add flour mixture to creamed mixture with milk and 1 teaspoon vanilla; mix well.
Pour batter in greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
Set aside.
Beat egg whites with cream of tartar and 1/4 teaspoon vanilla.
When whites reach a peak, fold in 1 cup sugar. Spread on top of unbaked cake mixture.
Bake at 350\u00b0 for 30 minutes.
Serve with strawberries or any fresh fruit.
