Molasses Shoo-Fly Cake - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1/2 c. molasses
    1/2 c. hot water
    1/2 tsp. baking soda
    1 1/2 c. flour
    1 c. brown sugar
    1/4 c. lard or butter
Preparation
    Make crumbs by combining flour, sugar and shortening.
    Line pie plate with pastry.
    Dissolve the soda in the hot water and combine with the molasses.
    Pour into the pastry lined pan; top with the crumbs and bake in moderate oven at 350\u00b0 until firm. Save some of the liquid to put on top of crumbs.
