Frosted Cranberry Salad - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    1 (20 oz.) can crushed pineapple
    2 (3 oz.) pkg. lemon-flavored Jell-O
    8 oz. ginger ale
    1 can cranberry sauce (whole berry or jellied)
    1 c. chopped pecans
    2 c. Cool Whip
    8 oz. cream cheese, softened
Preparation
    Drain pineapple, reserving juice.
    Add enough water to juice to make 1 cup liquid and heat to boiling.
    Dissolve Jell-O in this liquid and cool.
    Gently stir in ginger ale.
    Blend in pineapple, cranberry sauce and 1/2 cup pecans.
    Pour into a 9 x 9 x 2-inch casserole and refrigerate until firm.
    Beat cream cheese and Cool Whip together with electric mixer.
    Spread on top of set gelatin. Sprinkle with chopped pecans.
