Cream Caramels - cooking recipe

Ingredients
    2 c. sugar
    1 c. light corn syrup
    1/4 c. butter
    2 c. heavy cream (warmed)
    1/2 tsp. salt
    2 tsp. vanilla
Preparation
    Blend the sugar and corn syrup in a heavy pan.
    Place over low heat, stirring constantly until it thickens and begins to dissolve. Cook to crack stage.
    Take off heat and add butter a piece at a time.
    Put back on heat and add cream.
    Don't let it quit boiling.
    Cook to hard ball stage.
    Take off heat and let sit for 5 minutes.
    Then add salt and vanilla.
    Pour into greased 9 x 13-inch pan.
