1/3 c. sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
6 eggs
2 c. whole milk
6 Tbsp. sugar
Preparation

In a medium nonstick frypan, heat the sugar over medium heat, tilting and shaking pan often, until sugar melts and turns a pale amber color (about 8 minutes).
Watch closely since sugar scorches easily.
Immediately pour caramel syrup into a round 1-quart baking dish, tilting to coat bottom and 1/2-inch of sides.
Place dish in a larger pan, such as an 8-inch or 9-inch square pan and set aside.
