Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. shortening
4 oz. cream cheese (soft)
1 tsp. vanilla
2 c. plain flour
Preparation

Cream together butter and shortening.
Add sugar and cream cheese; mix well.
Add salt and vanilla; beat well and add flour. Divide dough into rolls and wrap in wax paper.
Chill and slice thin.
Bake at 325\u00b0 for about 10 minutes or until light brown. Remove from pan.
Cookies become crisp as they cool.
Top with a pecan half or cinnamon sugar, if desired, before baking.
You may also drizzle chocolate over them after baking.
