Grandma Benson'S Swedish Toast - cooking recipe
Ingredients

1/2 c. butter
1 c. sugar
1 egg
1/2 c. sour milk
1/2 tsp. baking soda
2 c. flour
1 1/2 tsp. baking powder
1/2 tsp. salt
1/2 c. chopped nuts (almonds or pecans)
cinnamon sugar
Preparation

Preheat oven to 350\u00b0.
Cream butter and sugar.
Add egg.
Mix dry ingredients and add alternately with milk.
Stir in nuts. Bake in a 9-inch square pan 35 minutes or until center springs back.
Cool slightly.
Reduce oven heat to 250\u00b0.
Slice into 1 1/2-inch slices and then in half.
Place on a cookie sheet; sprinkle with cinnamon sugar and dry in the oven about 10 minutes. Turn off oven and let toast remain 20 minutes longer.
Broil lightly until just browned.
Cool.
Store airtight.
Good for dunking in coffee or cocoa.
